Islam in brief

The word Islam means peace, it also means submission. Islam stands for the submission to the will of God. A Muslim is one who submits to the will of God. The will of the Almighty has been made manifest to the world through His prophets and His scriptures. According to Islam Abraham, Mosses, Jesus and Muhammad (Peace be upon them) were all prophets of Allah. One cannot be a Muslim if he disbelieves in any of these prophets. There has been no community in the history of mankind to which a prophet has not been assigned. In fact the total number of prophets send to the world exceeds 100,000.

The most important message of Islam is the oneness of Allah. He is one and has no partners. Holy Quran describes Allah as “Say, he is Allah, the One, the Absolute. He begets not nor is he begotten, there is none like unto him”. One becomes a Muslim by uttering the words, comprehending fully its meaning, “I stand witness to the fact that there is no God but Allah and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is Allah’s messenger.

The Sun, the moon, the earth and everything else in the Universe, the birds, the animals and everything else in the world apart from the humans are Muslims by nature. Their behavior is governed by the laws of Allah. They do not have the ability to go against the wishes of their lord. Humans on the other hand are given freedom in a sphere of their life to choose the way they live. That is they can be Muslims only by choice.

Allah on his part has provided us with a system that informs us about his will. We have the choice to heed his call or to ignore it. Obedience is rewarded with heaven and disobedience with hell.

Allah: The one and only God

Prophets: Messengers chosen by Allah to convey His message to the masses.

Holy Quran: The revelations of Allah made to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Holy Quran is over 1400 years old and to this day not one word has been changed. As far as purity of the content is concerned there is no other scripture that can be compared to the Holy Quran. It is the word of Allah, period.
